Made it past Colburn Conservatory Pre-Screens!!! :D
The World of Strings Music Store in LBC, Ca. 2011. Hey fellow bassists, could you imagine my face when I walked in and saw a room FULL of OLD, BEAUTIFUL, some RARE, and PLAYABLE Double Basses?!?!? I still have dreams about visiting this place again. The Master Luthier was the best and very honest.
Mixed opinions about this place, I’d rather take my bass to Lisa’s. But when shopping for a bass any place that has the ‘right one’ is fair game. Plus anytime you can be around lots of bass is a plus. :P
Photo I took at David Gage!
Joseph Pereira - “alter the way things are with us down here…” for four amplified double basses. Performed by members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Joe Pereira is the principal timpanist with the L.A. Phil too. \m/
From left to right: Chris Hanulik, Dave Moore, Oscar Meza, Peter Rofe
Sound effect controlled in the back by Mike Valerio
This is by far one of the most incredible recordings I have listened to ever. :)
Berlin Philharmonic/Simon Ratte - Ein Deutsches Requiem
Getting ready for auditions, this is after not playing the 2nd suite in a while but just testing out to see how it sounds through my camera. I didn’t play through the whole thing though as do not have this anywhere near prepared enough for my goal performance.
NOTE: The loud low humming is from our air conditioner….note to self…turn off the air conditioner before filming, lol.

In case anyone wants to see my dream orchestra bass. I would give all my worldly possessions for this beast. Formerly owned by Henry Freeman, principal bass of the Boston Symphony. :)
